SUMMARY:Defensive Handgun 1 (CCW Permit/PPOH) 2-Day
DESCRIPTION:The Defensive Handgun 1 class often meets the requirements for 
 obtaining a Carry Concealed Weapons CCW permit in many CA jurisdictions\, 
 as well as in number of other states. Through a combination of classroom a
 nd range training over two days\, we will cover the knowledge and skills r
 equired to carry a firearm for personal protection outside the home.\n\nWe
  follow the NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Course. Upon completi
 ng the class\, you will receive a certificate from 29 Outdoor Gear\, an FF
 L and approved trainer for Napa and Solano.  Threat Scenarios is the affi
 liate training organization of 29 Outdoor Gear with the same management.\n
 \nDay 1 (8-Hours Classroom):\n\n*Learn ethical responsibility\, defensive 
 mindset/awareness\, and how to avoid\, respond to and control an encounter
 .\n*Discuss legal considerations including proportionate use of force\, CC
 W insurance\, and the aftermath of a shooting.\n*Prepare a plan including 
 firearm/holster selection\, and good habits such as scanning and assessing
  the environment.\n\nDay 2 (8-Hours Range):\n\n*Improve draw\, accuracy\, 
 speed shooting\, and target acquisition skills (including point shooting).
 \n*Move to\, use\, and shoot from behind cover.\n*Practice response drills
  (left\, right\, rear)\, and retention shots.\n\nThe Defensive Handgun ser
 ies is designed to take students from static line shooting into applying t
 heir skills in a real world environment.  Through the supervision of our 
 instructors\, you will learn how to fight back with a firearm while under 
 stress.\n\nPrerequisites:\n\nIdeally\, the student would have a working kn
 owledge of handguns and some experience. However\, due to the high instruc
 tor-to-student ratio and small class size\, we often are able to adapt to 
 those with little or no experience.\n\nWhat to Bring:\n\nGear: Ear protect
 ion/eye protection (wrap around glasses or glasses with some form of side 
 protection preferred). Bring athletic shoes\, boots\, or cleats. It's an o
 utdoor range so check the weather and dress accordingly. We run rain or sh
 ine.\n\nFirearm: Reliable semi-automatic handgun or revolver with three or
  more magazines (speed loaders). Bring a holster\, and at least two magazi
 ne pouches. Holsters must be worn on the hip or thigh on the strong side.\
 n\nAmmo: At least 350 rounds.  Additionally\, you will need 50 rounds pe
 r handgun for the qualification test. Some people shoot / reload faster th
 an others. How much ammunition you want to use is up to you.\n\nPersonal: 
 Bring your own lunch (there will be a 45 minute break). We are short drivi
 ng distance from several restaurants. Snacks and water will be provided.\n
 \nFor those that want to take the class (or range day portion)\, without a
 pplying for a CCW rental firearm packages are available. Each package cont
 ains a modern\, reliable handgun such as a Glock\, three magazines\, elect
 ronic ear protection\, safety glasses\, and speed loader. The rental packa

 re.\n\nWhere to Go:\n\nWe will be using the Hillside Private Property\, wh
 ich is located a short drive from central American Canyon. It is not open 
 to the public\, and its exact location will only be disclosed to students 
 of the class.  We will start at 9am sharp and continue to around 5pm. Ple
 ase try to arrive 15 minutes before the class starts.\n\nFor additional qu
