SUMMARY:Defensive Handgun ll (CCW Permit/PPOH) 2-Day 16-hour Initial\; Rene
 wals\; Modifications
DESCRIPTION:The Defensive Handgun II class often meets the requirements for
obtaining a Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) permit in many CA jurisdictions\
, as well as in a number of other states. Through a combination of classro
om and range training over two days (16 hours)\, we will cover the knowled
ge and skills required to carry a firearm for personal protection outside
the home\, incompliance with California law. \n\nWe follow the NRA Person
al Protection Outside the Home (PPOH) Course. Upon completing the class\,
 you will receive a certificate from 29 Outdoor Gear\, a full-service FFL g
un store and approved training provider for Napa\, Solano\, Contra Costa\,
San Francisco\, and Santa Clara  Sheriff's Departments\, and City of Nap
 a\, Central Marin\, Novato\, Mill Valley\, Town of Ross\, City of Winters\
, Martinez\, and San Francisco Police Departments. Several other law enfor
cement agencies recognize our CCW training as well\, such as the Sacrament
o\, Yolo\, Sheriff's Departments and Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety
. Ask the agency you are applying to if our training course will meet thei
r requirements. Our instructors are\, at minimum\, NRA Certified\, and man
y hold multiple credentials such as DOJ\, BSIS\, POST\, and USCCA. Threat
Scenarios is the training division of 29 Outdoor Gear. \n\nDay 1 (8-Hours

ed to take students from static line shooting into applying their skills i
n a real world environment.  Through the supervision of our instructors\,
you will learn how to fight back with a firearm while under stress.\n\n\n
Prerequisites:\n\nIdeally\, the student should have a working knowledge of
handguns\, their safe handling\, and some experience. However\, due to th
e high instructor-to-student ratio and small class size\, we often are abl
e to adapt to those with little or no experience. Students who do not demo
nstrate an adequate level of safety or comprehension of the class material
may be invited to return to a later class after completing some additiona
l training.\n\nWhat to Bring:\n\nGear: Ear protection (electronic is prefe
rred)\, eye protection (wrap around glasses or glasses with some form of s
 ide protection preferred)\; athletic shoes\, boots\, or cleats.\nWe shoot
outdoors so check the weather and dress accordingly. Class will proceed ra
in or shine\, unless the conditions become unsafe.\n\nFirearm: Reliable se
mi-automatic handgun or revolver with three or more magazines (or speed lo
aders for revolvers).\n\nMany agencies are now allowing more than 3 guns t
o be listed on your permit (Solano Sheriff = 6\, Napa Sheriff and Napa Pol
ice = 5). You WILL have to shoot and attempt to qualify with EACH GUN you
want listed on your permit. ** Due to time constraints\, all students will
have the opportunity to qualify with at least 3 guns. Additional guns may
be attempted if time allows\; if not\, students will need to make arrange
ments to return to attempt to qualify with their other guns. See staff for
more information. **\n\nHolster: A rigid OUTSIDE THE WAISTBAND holster th
at does not collapse when the firearm is removed\, and at least two magazi
ne or speed loader pouches. Holsters must be worn on the hip or thigh on t
he strong side\; and magazine holders must be worn on the belt. Serpa-type
holsters with a release button that must be activated by the user's trigg
er finger are NOT allowed. "Universal"-type holsters that are not specific
to the firearm are NOT allowed. \n\nAmmo: At least 500 rounds for the va
rious drills we fire during class (assuming 3 guns\; add at least 100 roun
ds for each additional gun beyond 3).  You will need 100 rounds per handg
un for the qualification test\; you must shoot and qualify with each gun y
ou want listed on your permit\, and you're allowed to shoot it twice per g
un for a passing score (the qualification course of fire is 50 rounds). Th
e remaining balance of the rounds will be used for the various drills we s
hoot throughout class\, to assess the student's safety\, competency\, gun
handling\, and marksmanship. \n\nPersonal: Bring your own lunch on both d
ays. There is not enough time to leave and return. Cold water will be prov
ided.\nClosed-toe shoes and long pants are required\; lightweight long sle
eve shirts are encouraged\; a hat is recommended.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFor those
that want to take either the class (or range day portion) without applying
for a CCW\, rental firearm packages are available\, if needed. Each packa
 ge contains a modern\, reliable handgun such as a Glock\, three magazines\
, electronic ear protection\, safety glasses\, and loading assistance devi
ce. The rental package is $50 for the day. If you would like to reserve a
rental package\, select the appropriate ticket option after clicking the r
ed 'Book Now' button below.\n\nRegistered students will receive an email f
rom staff about 1 to 2 weeks prior to class with many details - keep an ey
e on your inbox for this message. It is suggested you add the domain threa
tscenarios.com to your 'safe senders' or 'white' list so the email does no
t go to your junk or spam folder. \nWe will start at 9am sharp and contin
ue to around 5pm. Please arrive 15 minutes before the class starts to comp
lete paperwork and safety inspection of your equipment.\n\nFor additional
questions about our CCW classes\, please view our FAQ.\n\nIn the event of
