SUMMARY:Defensive Handgun ll (CCW Permit/PPOH) 2-Day 16-hour Initial\; Rene
 wals\; Modifications
DESCRIPTION:The Defensive Handgun II class often meets the requirements for
obtaining a Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) permit in many CA jurisdictions\
, as well as in a number of other states. Through a combination of classro
om and range training over two days (16 hours)\, we will cover the knowled
ge and skills required to carry a firearm for personal protection outside
the home\, in compliance with California law. \n\nWe follow the NRA Perso
nal Protection Outside the Home (PPOH) Course. Upon completing the class\,
  you will receive a certificate from 29 Outdoor Gear\, a full-service FFL
gun store and approved training provider for Napa\, Solano\, Contra Costa\
, and San Francisco Sheriff's Departments\, and City of Napa\, Central Mar
 in\, Novato\, Mill Valley\, Town of Ross\, City of Winters\, Martinez\, an
d San Francisco Police Departments. Several other law enforcement agencies
recognize our CCW training as well\, such as the Sacramento\, Yolo\, Alam
eda\, Santa Clara County Sheriff's Departments and Sunnyvale Department of
Public Safety. Ask the agency you are applying to if our training course
will meet their requirements. Our instructors are\, at minimum\, CA DOJ CC
W Instructor credentialed\, and many hold multiple credentials such as NRA
\, DOJ\, BSIS\, POST\, and USCCA. Threat Scenarios is the training divisio
 n of 29 Outdoor Gear\, LLC. \n\n8-Hours Classroom Day:\n\nStudents will l

aftermath of a shooting\;\n*Firearm/holster selection\, and good habits su
ch as scanning and assessing the environment.\nA written exam will be admi
nistered at the end of the day to assess the student's knowledge of the ma
terial.\n\n8-Hours Range Day: \n\nWhile emphasizing safety\, students wil
 l learn:\n*Firearm Safety\, Firearm Handling\, Shooting Technique\;\n*Impr
ove draw\, accuracy\, speed\, and target acquisition skills (including poi
 nt shooting)\;\n*Move to\, use\, and shoot from behind cover\;\n*Practice
 response drills (left\, right\, rear)\, and retention shots.\n\nThe Defens
ive Handgun series is designed to take students from static line shooting
into applying their skills in a real world environment.  Through the supe
rvision of our instructors\, you will learn how to fight back with a firea
rm while under stress.\n\nRENEWAL STUDENTS will be on the range part of on
e day AND in the classroom part of that same day\, unless otherwise specif
ied. Renewal students MUST attend the legal lecture\, mental health lectur
e\, and complete the written exam.\n\nThe sequence of the days may fluctua
te. For this particular class\, INITIAL APPLICANT STUDENTS will be on the
range the first day and in the classroom on the second day. RENEWAL STUDEN
TS will be in the classroom on the second day\, and then on the range the
second half of the second day.  The classroom portion is presently schedu
led to occur in American Canyon\, CA (Napa County) - the exact address wil
l be provided to registered students approximately 2 weeks before class.\n
If there are any changes\, we will notify registered students ASAP. \n\n\
nPrerequisites:\n\nThe student should have a working knowledge of handguns
\, their safe handling\, and some experience. Due to the high instructor-t
o-student ratio\, we often are able to adapt to those with little or no ex
perience\, but we encourage you to obtain some basic skills before taking
this class. Students who do not demonstrate an adequate level of safety or
comprehension of the class material may be invited to return to a later c
lass after completing some additional training.\n\nWhat to Bring:\n\nGear:
Ear protection (electronic is preferred)\, eye protection (wrap around gl
asses or glasses with some form of side protection preferred)\; athletic s
hoes\, boots\, or cleats.\nWe shoot outdoors so check the weather and dres
s accordingly. Class will proceed rain or shine\, unless the conditions be
come unsafe.\n\nFirearm: Reliable semi-automatic handgun or revolver with
three or more magazines (or speed loaders for revolvers).\n\nMany agencies
are now allowing more than 3 guns to be listed on your permit (Solano She
riff = 6\, Napa Sheriff and Napa Police = 5). You WILL have to shoot and a
ttempt to qualify with EACH GUN you want listed on your permit. ** Due to
time constraints\, all students will have the opportunity to qualify with
at least 3 guns. Additional guns may be attempted if time allows\; if not\
, students will need to make arrangements to return to attempt to qualify
with their other guns. See staff for more information. **\n\nHolster: A ri
gid OUTSIDE THE WAISTBAND holster that does not collapse when the firearm
is removed\, and at least two magazine or speed loader pouches. Holsters m
ust be worn on the hip or thigh on the strong side\; and magazine holders
must be worn on the belt. Serpa-type holsters with a release button that m
ust be activated by the user's trigger finger are NOT allowed. "Universal"
-type holsters that are not specific to the firearm are NOT allowed. \n\n
Ammo: At least 500 rounds for the various drills we fire during class (ass
uming 3 guns\; add at least 100 rounds for each additional gun beyond 3).
You will need 100 rounds per handgun for the qualification test\; you m
ust shoot and qualify with each gun you want listed on your permit\, and y
ou're allowed to shoot it twice per gun for a passing score (the qualifica
tion course of fire is 50 rounds). The remaining balance of the rounds wil
l be used for the various drills we shoot throughout class\, to assess the
  student's safety\, competency\, gun handling\, and marksmanship. Regardin
g ammo - more is less. When in doubt\, bring more. \n\nPersonal: Bring yo
ur own lunch on both days (there will be a 30 minute break - the lunch bre
ak during the classroom day is typically a "working lunch"). There is not
enough time to leave and return. Cold water will be provided.\nClosed-toe
shoes and long pants are required\; lightweight long sleeve shirts are enc
ouraged\; a hat is recommended.\n\nMODIFICATION STUDENTS - those that are
only qualifying with gun(s) to add to their existing permit:\nRegister for
the appropriate session/ticket\, and we will be in touch regarding schedu
ling.\n\nFor those that want to take either the class (or range day portio
 n) without applying for a CCW\, rental firearm packages are available\, if
needed. Each package contains a modern\, reliable handgun such as a Glock
\, three magazines\, electronic ear protection\, safety glasses\, and load
ing assistance device. The rental package is $45 for the day. If you would
like to reserve a rental package\, select the appropriate ticket option a
fter clicking the red 'Book Now' button below.\n\nRegistered students will
receive an email from staff about 1 to 2 weeks prior to class with many d
etails - keep an eye on our inbox for this message. It is suggested you ad
d the domain threatscenarios.com to your 'safe senders' or 'white' list so
the email does not go to your junk or spam folder. \nWe will start at 9a
m sharp and continue to around 6pm. Please arrive 15 minutes before the cl
ass starts to complete paperwork and safety inspection of your equipment.\
n\nFor additional questions about our CCW classes\, please view our FAQ.\n
\nIn the event of a conflict of information between our website\, FAQ\, th
is class listing\, or information received from our staff - the informatio
n from staff is the most current and prevailing.\n\nThis class will run al
 l day Saturday and all day Sunday for a total of two days. RENEWALS &amp\;
MODIFICATIONS - click "Book now" and those options will come up.\n\nCLASS
  COST:\n$475.00 for full 2 day course\n$275.00 for 8 hour range day/renewa
 l session\n$175.00 for modification qualifications\n$50.00 additional for
handgun rental kit (gun\, magazines\, eye and ear protection)\n\n\nFor que
