SUMMARY:Defensive Handgun ll (CCW Permit/PPOH) 2-Day
DESCRIPTION:**  THIS CLASS HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE USI RANGE IN CONCORD due
to emergency construction at the Richmond Rod and Gun Club  **\nTo regist
er for this class\, please use this link:\nhttps://threatscenarios.com/cla
 sses/defensive-handgun-ll-ccw-permit-ppoh-2-day-usi/\n\nThe Defensive Hand
gun II class often meets the requirements for obtaining a Carry Concealed
Weapon (CCW) permit in many CA jurisdictions\, as well as in a number of o
ther states. Through a combination of classroom and range training over tw
o days\, we will cover the knowledge and skills required to carry a firear
m for personal protection outside the home.\n\nWe follow the NRA Personal
Protection Outside the Home (PPOH) Course. Upon completing the class\, you
  will receive a certificate from 29 Outdoor Gear\, a full-service FFL gun
store and approved training provider for Napa\, Solano\, and Sonoma County
  Sheriff's Departments\, and City of Napa\, Central Marin\, Town of Ross\,
City of Winters\, and San Francisco  Police Departments. Several other l
aw enforcement agencies recognize our CCW training as well\, such as the M
arin\, Sacramento\, Yolo\, Contra Costa and Alameda County Sheriff's Depar
tments and Martinez Police Department - ask the agency you are applying to
if our training course will meet their requirements. Our instructors are\
, at minimum\, NRA Certified\, and many hold multiple credentials such as
DOJ\, BSIS\, POST\, and USCCA. Threat Scenarios is the training division o
 f 29 Outdoor Gear. \n\nDay 1 (8-Hours Classroom):\n\nStudents will:\n*Lea
rn ethical responsibility\, defensive mindset/awareness\, and how to avoid
\, respond to and control an encounter.\n*Discuss legal considerations inc
luding proportionate use of force\, CCW insurance\, and the aftermath of a
  shooting.\n*Prepare a plan including firearm/holster selection\, and good
habits such as scanning and assessing the environment.\n\nDay 2 (8-Hours
 Range):\n\nWhile emphasizing safety\, students will:\n*Improve draw\, accu
racy\, speed shooting\, and target acquisition skills (including point sho
 oting).\n*Move to\, use\, and shoot from behind cover.\n*Practice response
  drills (left\, right\, rear)\, and retention shots.\n\nThe Defensive Hand
gun series is designed to take students from static line shooting into app
lying their skills in a real world environment.  Through the supervision
of our instructors\, you will learn how to fight back with a firearm while
under stress.\n\nPrerequisites:\n\nIdeally\, the student should have a wo
rking knowledge of handguns\, their safe handling\, and some experience. H
owever\, due to the high instructor-to-student ratio and small class size\
, we often are able to adapt to those with little or no experience. Studen
ts who do not demonstrate an adequate level of safety or comprehension of
the class material may be invited to return to a later class after complet
ing some additional training.\n\nWhat to Bring:\n\nGear: Ear protection (e
lectronic is preferred)\, eye protection (wrap around glasses or glasses w
ith some form of side protection preferred)\; athletic shoes\, boots\, or
cleats.\nWe shoot outdoors so check the weather and dress accordingly. Cla
ss will proceed rain or shine\, unless the conditions become unsafe.\n\nFi
rearm: Reliable semi-automatic handgun or revolver with three or more maga
zines (or speed loaders\, for revolvers). \n\nHolster: A rigid OUTSIDE THE
WAISTBAND holster that does not collapse when the firearm is removed\, an
d at least two magazine or speed loader pouches. Holsters must be worn on
the hip or thigh on the strong side\; and magazine holders must be worn on
the belt. Serpa-type holsters with a release button that must be activate
d by the user's trigger finger are not allowed. \n\nAmmo: At least 350 ro
unds for the various drills we fire during class.  Additionally\, you wi
ll need 100 rounds per handgun for the qualification test\; you must shoot
and qualify with each gun you want listed on your permit\, and you're all
owed to shoot it twice per gun for a passing score (the qualification cour
se of fire is 50 rounds). Some people shoot/reload faster than others. How
much ammunition you want to use is up to you.\n\nPersonal: Bring your own
lunch (there will be a 30 minute break). There is not enough time to leav
e and return. Cold water will be provided.\nClosed-toe shoes and long pant
s are required\; lightweight long sleeve shirts are encouraged\; a hat is
recommended.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFor those that want to take either the class (o
r range day portion) without applying for a CCW\, rental firearm packages
are available. Each package contains a modern\, reliable handgun such as a
  Glock\, three magazines\, electronic ear protection\, safety glasses\, an
d speed loader. The rental package is $45 for the day. If you would like t
o reserve a rental package\, select the appropriate ticket option after cl
icking the red 'Book Now' button below.\n\nRegistered students will receiv
e an email from staff about 1 to 2 weeks prior to class with many details
 - keep an eye on our inbox for this message. It is suggested you add the d
omain threatscenarios.com to your 'safe senders' or 'white' list so the em
ail does not go to your junk or spam folder. \nWe will start at 9am sharp
and continue to around 5pm. Please arrive 15 minutes before the class sta
rts to complete paperwork and safety inspection of your equipment.\n\nFor
additional questions about our CCW classes\, please view our FAQ.\n\nIn th
e event of a conflict of information between our website\, FAQ\, this clas

staff is the most current and prevailing.\n\nThis class will run all day S
aturday and all day Sunday for a total of two days. RENEWALS- click "Book
now" and one-day options will come up.\n\nCLASS COST: $325.00 for full 2
