Over the two day course you will:\n\n* Learn tactical concepts such as slicing the pie\, communication\, and concealment vs. cover.\n* Engage tar gets from a number of shooting positions with your home defense handgun.\n * Improve your shooting platform\, including recoil management\, transitio ns\, and target ID.\n* Discuss the mental elements of a hostile encounter\ , including executing a plan under stress.\n* Evaluate decisions made in t he heat of the moment in a group environment.\n* Participate in four real- world scenarios with our roleplayers which will involve you either carryin g or having access to a firearm.\n\nOur scenarios are not simply "shoot/no -shoot" exercises\, and our dedicated roleplayers are not just living targ ets. They are characters\, all of whom have different priorities and motiv ations. Some will run\, some will fight\, some will negotiate. All will re act to you\, including how you carry yourself and when and if you decide t o present your weapon and shoot. There are multiple paths to choose\, and each choice will be discussed at length in a group setting with students a nd staff.\n\nIn this class\, our roleplayers and participants will be arme d with the same UTM converted Glock 17 handguns used in law enforcement tr aining and will be shooting UTM Man Marker Rounds. Roleplayers will react realistically when hit.\n\nThis class is suitable for beginner and interme diate level shooters. While we are more interested in testing your decisio n-making\, participants should be confident in their ability to safely ope rate a firearm. Please view our FAQ for more information.\n\nPrerequisites :\n\nAbility to safely manipulate a handgun under stress.\nAbility to safe ly draw and shoot from the holster. (Draws are not the focus of the class\ , but holsters are required.)\nAbility to consistently shoot an 8" group a t 10 yards.\nAbility to safely and healthfully navigate a shoothouse and a live-fire course under stress.\n\nWhat to Bring:\n\nDay 1:\n\nGear: Ear p rotection/eye protection (wrap around glasses or glasses with some form of side protection preferred). Bring athletic shoes\, boots\, or cleats. It' s an outdoor range so check the weather and dress accordingly. We run rain or shine.\n\nFirearm: Reliable semi-automatic handgun in 9mm or above wit h four or more magazines. Bring a holster\, and at least two magazine pouc hes. Holsters must be worn on the hip or thigh on the strong side. (If you have a Serpa style holster\, please remove the button.)\n\nAmmo: At least 350 rounds.\n\nPersonal: Bring your own lunch (there will be a 45 minute break). We are short driving distance from several restaurants. Snacks and water will be provided.\n\nDay 2:\nGear:  Long sleeve shirt and pants. A thletic shoes and long socks. You can bring your own gloves if you want. A ll other protective equipment (helmet\, mask\, groin protector\, gloves\, and choice of a full jumpsuit or a sweatshirt) will be provided.\nPersonal :  Bring your own lunch (there will be a 45 minute break).  Snacks and water will be provided.\n\n \;\n\nWhere to Go:\n\nDay 1:\n\nWe will be using the Richmond Rod and Gun Club's action range bays.
