Through a combination of classroom and range training over two days\, we will cover the knowledge and skills required to carry a firearm for personal protection outside the home.\n\nW e follow the NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home\, and CCW\, Course c urriculums. Upon successfully completing the class and receiving a passing score on the qualification course of fire\, you will receive a certificat e from 29 Outdoor Gear\, an FFL and approved trainer for Napa\, Solano\, a nd Sonoma County Sheriff's Departments\, and City of Napa Police Departmen t. Several other law enforcement agencies recognize our CCW training as we ll. Threat Scenarios is the affiliate training organization of 29 Outdoor Gear with the same management. Through a partnership with Down Range Logis tics\, our CCW training is also recognized by both the Sacramento and El D orado County Sheriff's Departments.\n\nDay 1 (8-Hours Classroom):\n\n*Lear n ethical responsibility\, defensive mindset/awareness\, and how to avoid\ , respond to and control an encounter.\n*Discuss legal considerations incl uding proportionate use of force\, CCW insurance\, and the aftermath of a shooting.\n*Prepare a plan including firearm/holster selection\, and good habits such as scanning and assessing the environment.\n\nDay 2 (8-Hours R ange):\n\n*Improve draw\, accuracy\, speed shooting\, and target acquisiti on skills (including point shooting).\n*Move to\, use\, and shoot from beh ind cover.\n*Practice response drills (left\, right\, rear)\, and retentio n shots.\n\nThe Defensive Handgun series is designed to take students from static line shooting into applying their skills in a real world environme nt.  Through the supervision of our instructors\, you will learn how to f ight back with a firearm while under stress.\n\nPrerequisites:\n\nIdeally\ , the student would have a working knowledge of handguns and some experien ce. However\, due to the high instructor-to-student ratio and small class size\, we often are able to adapt to those with little or no experience.\n \nWhat to Bring:\n\nGear: Ear protection/eye protection (wrap around glass es or glasses with some form of side protection preferred). Bring athletic shoes\, boots\, or cleats. It's an outdoor range so check the weather and dress accordingly. We run rain or shine.\n\nFirearm: Reliable semi-automa tic handgun or revolver with three or more magazines (speed loaders). Brin g a holster\, and at least two magazine pouches. Holsters must be worn on the hip or thigh on the strong side.\n\nAmmo: At least 350 rounds.  Addi tionally\, you will need 50 rounds per handgun for the qualification test. Some people shoot / reload faster than others. How much ammunition you wa nt to use is up to you.\n\nPersonal: Bring your own lunch (there will be a 45 minute break). We are short driving distance from several restaurants. Snacks and water will be provided.\n\nFor those that want to take the cla ss (or range day portion)\, without applying for a CCW rental firearm pack ages are available. Each package contains a modern\, reliable handgun such as a Glock\, three magazines\, electronic ear protection\, safety glasses \, and speed loader. The rental package is $45 for the day.
