You will practice rapidly drawing your handgun\, engaging targe ts\, and seeking points of cover. Additionally there will be a weapons ret ention segment of the class where you will learn to effectively strike and establish distance against an assailant (empty hand or holding a weapon) in order to get to your firearm.\n\nDay 2 will be run in our nearby shooth ouse and will place you in four real-world CCW scenarios while armed with a UTM converted Glock 17 handgun. The focus will be placed on use of force and your decisions about if and when to escalate.\n\nOur instructors will take you through the tactical\, legal\, and emotional considerations of t hreatening encounters which a CCW holder might face outside the home.  Ov er the two day course\, you will:\n\n* Practice high speed close quarters firearms engagement.\n* Learn practical techniques to disarm\, strike\, an d disable an adversary.\n* Assess threats while maintaining situational aw areness and controlling space and distance.\n* Handle aggressive adversari es on unfamiliar ground.\n* Debrief your plan and your decisions in a grou p environment.\n* Participate with our roleplayers in four real-world scen arios in which you will be carrying a firearm.\n\nOur scenarios are not si mply "shoot/no-shoot" exercises\, and our dedicated roleplayers are not ju st living targets. They are characters\, all of whom have different priori ties and motivations. Some will run\, some will fight\, some will negotiat e. All will react to you\, including how you carry yourself and when and i f you decide to present your weapon and shoot. There are multiple paths to choose\, and each choice will be discussed at length in a group setting w ith students and staff.\n\nIn this class\, our roleplayers and participant s will be armed with the same UTM converted Glock 17 handguns used in law enforcement training and will be shooting UTM Man Marker Rounds. Roleplaye rs will react realistically when hit.\n\nThis class is suitable for interm ediate level shooters who have taken our entry-level Home Defense Scenario s class\, or who have previously conducted force on force exercises during vocational training (MOUT\, law enforcement\, etc). While we are more int erested in testing your decision-making\, participants should be confident in their ability to safely operate a firearm. Please view our FAQ for mor e information.\n\nPrerequisites:\n\nPrevious force-on force-training recom mended (but not required).\nAbility to safely manipulate a handgun under s tress.\nAbility to safely draw and shoot from the holster.\nAbility to con sistently shoot an 8" group at 10 yards.\nAbility to safely and healthfull y navigate a shoothouse and a live-fire course under stress.\n\nWhat to Br ing:\n\nDay 1:\n\nGear: Ear protection/eye protection (wrap around glasses or glasses with some form of side protection preferred). Bring athletic s hoes\, boots\, or cleats. It's an outdoor range so check the weather and d ress accordingly. We run rain or shine.\n\nFirearm: Reliable semi-automati c handgun in 9mm or above with four or more magazines. Bring a holster\, a nd at least two magazine pouches. Holsters must be worn on the hip or thig h on the strong side. (If you have a Serpa style holster\, please remove t he button.)\n\nAmmo: At least 350 rounds.\n\nPersonal: Bring your own lunc h (there will be a 45 minute break). We are short driving distance from se veral restaurants. Snacks and water will be provided.\n\nDay 2:\nGear:  L ong sleeve shirt and pants. Athletic shoes and long socks. You can bring y our own gloves if you want. All other protective equipment (helmet\, mask\ , groin protector\, gloves\, and choice of a full jumpsuit or a sweatshirt ) will be provided.\nPersonal:  Bring your own lunch (there will be a 4 5 minute break).  Snacks and water will be provided.\n\n \;\n\nWhere  to Go:\n\nDay 1:\n\nWe will be using the Richmond Rod and Gun Club's act ion range bays.
