You will practice rapidly drawing your handgun\, engag ing targets\, and seeking points of cover. Additionally there will be a we apons retention segment of the class where you will learn to effectively s trike and establish distance against an assailant (empty hand or holding a weapon) in order to get to your firearm.\n\nDay 2 will be run in our near by shoothouse and will place you in four real-world CCW scenarios while ar med with a UTM converted Glock 17 handgun. The focus will be placed on use of force and your decisions about if and when to escalate.\n\nOur instruc tors will take you through the tactical\, legal\, and emotional considerat ions of threatening encounters which a CCW holder might face outside the h ome.  Over the two day course\, you will:\n\n* Practice high speed close quarters firearms engagement.\n* Learn practical techniques to disarm\, st rike\, and disable an adversary.\n* Assess threats while maintaining situa tional awareness and controlling space and distance.\n* Handle aggressive adversaries on unfamiliar ground.\n* Debrief your plan and your decisions in a group environment.\n* Participate with our roleplayers in four real-w orld scenarios in which you will be carrying a firearm.\n\nOur scenarios a re not simply "shoot/no-shoot" exercises\, and our dedicated roleplayers a re not just living targets. They are characters\, all of whom have differe nt priorities and motivations. Some will run\, some will fight\, some will negotiate. All will react to you\, including how you carry yourself and w hen and if you decide to present your weapon and shoot. There are multiple paths to choose\, and each choice will be discussed at length in a group setting with students and staff.\n\nIn this class\, our roleplayers and pa rticipants will be armed with the same UTM converted Glock 17 handguns use d in law enforcement training and will be shooting UTM Man Marker Rounds. Roleplayers will react realistically when hit.\n\nThis class is suitable f or intermediate level shooters who have taken our entry-level Home Defense Scenarios class\, or who have previously conducted force on force exercis es during vocational training (MOUT\, law enforcement\, etc). While we are more interested in testing your decision-making\, participants should be confident in their ability to safely operate a firearm. Please view our FA Q for more information.\n\nPrerequisites:\n\nPrevious force-on force-train ing recommended (but not required).\nAbility to safely manipulate a handgu n under stress.\nAbility to safely draw and shoot from the holster.\nAbili ty to consistently shoot an 8" group at 10 yards.\nAbility to safely and h ealthfully navigate a shoothouse and a live-fire course under stress.\n\nW hat to Bring:\n\nDay 1:\n\nGear: Ear protection/eye protection (wrap aroun d glasses or glasses with some form of side protection preferred). Bring a thletic shoes\, boots\, or cleats. It's an outdoor range so check the weat her and dress accordingly. We run rain or shine.\n\nFirearm: Reliable semi -automatic handgun in 9mm or above with four or more magazines. Bring a ho lster\, and at least two magazine pouches. Holsters must be worn on the hi p or thigh on the strong side. (If you have a Serpa style holster\, please remove the button.)\n\nAmmo: At least 350 rounds.\n\nPersonal: Bring your own lunch (there will be a 45 minute break). We are short driving distanc e from several restaurants. Snacks and water will be provided.\n\nDay 2:\n Gear:  Long sleeve shirt and pants. Athletic shoes and long socks. You ca n bring your own gloves if you want. All other protective equipment (helme t\, mask\, groin protector\, gloves\, and choice of a full jumpsuit or a s weatshirt) will be provided.\nPersonal:  Bring your own lunch (there wil l be a 45 minute break).  Snacks and water will be provided.\n\n \;\ n\nWhere to Go:\n\nDay 1:\n\nWe will be using the Richmond Rod and Gun Cl ub's action range bays.
