SUMMARY:Weapon Defense
DESCRIPTION:Our Weapon Defense class is for male and female students of all
  skill levels (beginners and up) who are serious about learning how to def
 end themselves and their loved ones in real world situations.  This cours
 e will primarily focus on dangerous scenarios in which an adversary may ha
 ve access to a weapon (knife\, baton\, handgun).  Over the day we will:\n
 \n*Study the effects weapons have when used in attacks.\n*Assess the cost/
 benefit of a decision to react (fight\, flight\, freeze\, comply).\n*Learn
  techniques which are effective in disarming or debilitating committed ass
 ailants.\n*Perform drills in a realistic setting and evaluate realistic co
 nsequences.\n\nThreat Scenarios' hand to hand classes focus entirely on pr
 actical and responsible use of force.  Our objective is to open your eyes
  to the reality of what can occur during a fight\, whether it takes place 
 in your home\, at the convenience store\, the gas station\, or the park. W
 e will show you how to best stay safe when confronted by an attacker\, eve
 n if it means running as fast as possible in the opposite direction.\n\nWe
 apons defense is a controversial topic because each option has varying deg
 rees of effectiveness.  For example\, fighting a person wielding a knife 
 will likely result in you getting cut.  In this context\, we will help yo
 u develop a strategy for choosing when to fight and choosing how to fight.
 \n\nPrerequisites:\n\nAbility to perform basic strikes (punches\, elbows\,
  knees).\nAbility to safely and healthfully participate in active self-def
 ense training.\n\nWhat to Bring:\n\nGear: Athletic pants\, and short sleev
 e t-shirt.  All other gear will be provided.\n\nPersonal: Bring your own 
 lunch (there will be a 45 minute break). We are short driving distance fro
 m several restaurants. Snacks and water will be provided.\n\nWhere to Go:\
 n\nWe will be using the combatives room at our shoothouse. We will start a
 t 10am sharp and continue to around 3:30pm. Please try to arrive 15 minute
 s before the class starts.\n\nCLASS COST: $195
