There is an ever-increasing interest in using rifles and shotguns for defense.  Learn from our professionals, which include instructors with law enforcement, military, and/or SWAT experience.  Students will learn proper operation of their firearms in basic through advanced functions.  Additionally, we will be shooting multiple threat targets, shooting on the move, shooting from behind cover, slug drills, shooting positions, hostage rescue, malfunction clearance, and much more.  There is no prerequisite, however those with more experience will get more out of the class.  This is a range day, but we’ll include some short talks about the legal aspects of defense as well as basic tactics.  This is the perfect class for those that have little to moderate experience, although it provides a great refresher and probably some new material for advanced shooters.  Lunch will be provided.  The class will begin at 9am and stop at 5pm, and be held on private property in American Canyon.

Notes:

• This class is held on private property behind a locked gate.  Instructors and students are the only people allowed on the property.
• We do not have an attorney on staff to determine the status of your firearms, so there will be no inspection for legality; only safety / function inspections will be performed.
• We also do not check magazine capacity.  We encourage students to bring all their equipment and all their magazines.

Equipment:

• Rifle, semi-auto much preferred
• Rifle magazine holder(s)
• A sling for each; just for convenience.  This doesn’t have to be fancy
• Shotgun – modern preferred, but we’ll work with anything
• Shotgun shell holder(s), or packets may be used

Rifle Ammunition

• Rifle calibers: any up to 5.56, plus 7.62 x 39.  If in doubt, email jerry@threatscenarios.com
• Up to 300 rounds (likely more than you need)
• STEEL CORE ROUNDS ARE PROHIBITED

Shotgun Ammunition

• Shotgun gauges: All
• LEAD or COPPER shot only.  NO STEEL.
• We recommend bringing more ammunition than you will need. The following is likely more than you need:
• 50 buckshot (not included in the count below)
• 30 slugs
• 200 Birdshot (any size pellets).  Note: buckshot may be used for drills calling for birdshot
• Keep slugs separate from other shells, until we call for their use.

Optional:

• Unloaded handgun, holster (we will not be using handguns, per say)
• Body armor, chest rigs, IFAK, etc.
• Sights: any; our instructors will adapt their techniques for each type of sight
• Clothing: any, however, no open-toed shoes and shorts
• Sunblock
• Water, snacks, etc.
