The Home Defense Skills & Scenarios class is designed for people who are looking to improve their practical shooting ability with a handgun and rifle, and who are new to force on force training.

The class will be run in our nearby shoothouse and will place you in six or more real-world scenarios while armed with a UTM converted Glock 17 handgun and a UTM converted AR15 rifle.

We provide a safe learning environment in which an instructor will guide you through the strategies, techniques, and legal considerations of a dangerous encounter in your home. Over the two day course you will:

* Learn tactical concepts such as slicing the pie, communication, and concealment vs. cover.
* Engage targets from a number of shooting positions with your home defense handgun.
* Improve your shooting platform, including recoil management, transitions, and target ID.
* Discuss the mental elements of a hostile encounter, including executing a plan under stress.
* Evaluate decisions made in the heat of the moment with your private instructor.
* Participate in six or more real-world scenarios with our roleplayers which will involve you either carrying or having access to a firearm.

Our scenarios are not simply “shoot/no-shoot” exercises, and our dedicated roleplayers are not just living targets. They are characters, all of whom have different priorities and motivations. Some will run, some will fight, some will negotiate. All will react to you, including how you carry yourself and when and if you decide to present your weapon and shoot. There are multiple paths to choose, and each choice will be discussed at length in an after action debrief with staff.

In this class, our roleplayers and participants will be armed with the same UTM converted Glock 17 handguns and rifles used in law enforcement training and will be shooting UTM Man Marker Rounds. Roleplayers will react realistically when hit.

This class is suitable for intermediate level shooters. While we are more interested in testing your decision-making, participants should be confident in their ability to safely operate a firearm. Please view our FAQ for more information.
